The Spiritual Development Programme (SDP) combines modern interactive teaching methods with classical Islamic scholarship to offer madrasah teachers practical advice on how they can enhance their spirituality and have a more positive impact on the children they teach.

This manual contains all the material that is presented on the two-day SDP training courses conducted by the Madrasah Centre of Excellence. It also includes additional verses, traditions, and expositions for further study and deliberation.

The manual is divided into two complementary parts: 

• Part 1, ‘Foundations’, aims to establish a thorough understanding of the concepts, principles, and approaches that underpin the SDP. 
• Part 2, ‘Five Step Practical Programme for Spiritual Development’, builds on these foundations in a structured, focused, and practicable manner by means of a comprehensive yet fully manageable step by step guide.
